Sixers sign guard Darius Johnson-Odom

The Sixers have added Darius Johnson-Odom to their roster, signing the D-League guard to a 10-day contract, a league source confirmed. To make room for him, the Sixers waived Lorenzo Brown.

The signing was first reported by Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

Johnson-Odom was one of four players brought in by the Sixers for a workout Tuesday at PCOM, in front of Sixers coach Brett Brown and Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie. Wednesday, Brown hinted that a roster move could be imminent, meaning he and Hinkie liked what they saw out of Johnson-Odom.

The 24-year-old Johnson-Odom is averaging 22.0 points and 6.1 assists per game, while shooting 45.3 percent overall in 27 appearances for Springfield. The 6-2, 201-pound guard, who played at Marquette, was the 55th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

The Sixers are the second team for which Johnson-Odom will have played. He failed to score in four appearances for the Los Angeles Lakers last season, playing an average of 1.5 minutes per game.

Lorenzo Brown had not played since Feb. 21 with a sore right foot. He appeared in 26 games, averaging 2.5 points and 1.6 assists.
